Accommodation & Flight Information


Hotel Reservation Information – Urban 20 Mayors & Sherpas

The host city is pleased to offer:

  • 1x Business class return flight for the Mayor, Deputy Mayor or equivalent political representative of an Urban 20 member or observer city;
  • 1x Economy class return flight for a Sherpa/Sous Sherpa of an Urban 20 member or observer city;
  • Should no political representative be able to attend, only 2x economy return flights will be offered;
  • All local flights will be economy class only.
  • 3x nights accommodation (bed and breakfast) for 2 delegates per Urban 20 member or observer city;
  • Transfers between airport and hotel;
  • All additional delegates from the same city will be self-funded.
  • Assistance will be available for flight and accommodation reservations of additional delegates of Urban 20 member and observer cities.

Special Requests
If you have any of the following requests and would like support, please contact the Professional Conference Organiser:

  • The NH Hotel and Maslow Hotel are recommended hotels, available at the special U20 Mayoral Summit rates.
  • Accompanying delegation members and individual participants, such as speakers/attendees not affiliated with a U20 city delegation, are kindly requested to make their own hotel arrangements at their own expense or to liaise with the Professional Conference Organiser to assist with reservations.
  • Extensions of stay: If you would like to extend your stay at your own expense at the NH Hotel or Maslow Hotel. Extensions are subject to room availability.
  • Please note that any incidental expenses during the stay are not covered.

Air Travel
For air travel, Oliver Tambo International Airport (OTIA) offers extensive global connectivity, including direct flights from major cities worldwide. The airport also caters to private aircraft, with dedicated facilities and services available for private landings.

Ground Transportation
The host city provides round-trip airport transfers, based on the Head of Delegation’s (Mayor’s) flight schedule. Airport transfers are available during the specified dates below. :

  • Airport to Hotel 11 or 12 September
  • Hotel to Airport 14 or 15 September
  • During the official programme such as site visits and official dinners, delegations will be traveling in groups by bus prepared by the organizer.
  • For individual participants traveling alone, you may take the Gautrain to Sandton Station and an uber from the Gautrain Station to the NH Hotel (5-minute drive). Gautrain tickets can be purchased at the airport. Both cash and credit cards are accepted.

Visa Requirements

  • Delegates may be required to obtain visas based on their nationality. For the most current information, we recommend checking with South African authorities or your local embassy.
  • Participants who are nationals of an ineligible country should contact the Consulate in their respective countries as soon as their trip is confirmed.

Insurance
Delegates are responsible for their own travel and medical insurance.
